Installing Flashers® brand pipe flashing
Installing pipe flashing with Flashers® makes custom fabrication and time-consuming fittings a thing of the past. Flashers require no special tools or complicated installation methods. The rubber cone is clearly marked with pipe dimensions, in both inches and millimeters, so it can be easily customized with tin snips or scissors.
Step-by-Step How to Install Flashers®
1. Cut
2. Slide
3. Form
4. Seal
5. Fasten Down
Cut the Flashers® rubber cone at the pipe outside diameter (OD) marked on the flashing. The marked sizes make it easy to select the correct opening for the pipe. The opening is approximately 20% smaller than the pipe’s outside diameter, allowing the rubber cone to stretch tightly around the pipe and create a secure seal.
Slide the Flashers® rubber cone down over the pipe. If needed, use water as a lubricant to make installation easier. Work the flashing down until the aluminum base is positioned properly on the roof surface.
Form and bend the aluminum base of the Flashers® to match the surface and profile of the roof. Work the aluminum carefully so it conforms closely to the roofing material. For sharper angles or tighter profiles, use a blunt-edge object to help shape the base without damaging it.
Apply silicone sealant between the Flashers® pipe flashing and the roof surface. Press the aluminum base down firmly so it sits tightly against the roof and the sealant forms a continuous seal around the flashing.
Fasten the Flashers® securely to the roof using weather-resistant fasteners to complete the seal. Space the fasteners approximately 1 to 1½ inches apart around the aluminum base to help maintain a tight, secure seal.
